Here’s a highlight reel NCECA gallery of photos from some of the shows in and around Phoenix. Please note the works of Bennet Bean, Kurt Weiser, Esther Shimazu, Patti Warashina, Frank Boyden, Joe Hawley, John Toki, Don Reitz, and too many more ceramic celebrities to mention each.
I really enjoyed Frank Boyden’s economical, expressive strokes depicting fish, skeletons, spiders, owls, eel, birds on beautifully ballooned, poked, prodded forms. And the wood fired surface with it’s gorgeous variations completed the natural mise-en-scene of his aesthetic. The seeming casual economy of his touch on these pots was a highlight of Phoenix.
The Mission Clay extrusions were a huge highlight, HUGE, and I mean 1800 pounds huge. Wonderful to walk amongst these collosus. (Collosi?)
Enjoy the photos.

These pictures are great. Did you really see all that art? Phoenix!
IT LOOKS LIKE A GREAT TRIP, ESPECIALLY THE ART. I PERSONALLY COULDN’T IMAGINE MYSELF IN PHOENIX EVER AGAIN. BUT GLAD YOUR HOME SAFE AND HOPE WE CAN GET TOGETHER SOON.
XO
EDDIE
We saw a lot of art, but unfortunately missed the Mission Clay extrusions. Thanks for filling us in.
